HE was at the wedding of his colleague and seemed to be enjoying the day, when he allegedly started arguing with some guests.
Siyanda Mchunu (23) was escorted out of the house and taken to the taxi rank.
But when Siyanda returned, he allegedly stabbed some of the guests.
He was stopped by the angry crowd before they killed him.
Now Siyanda’s family say they want answers from the bride, Qondile Gwamanda, as to how their peaceful son allegedly became a monster.
Siyanda from KwaPata attended the wedding of his colleague, Qondile, last Saturday in Imbali, Pietermaritzburg.
He died after he allegedly stabbed nine people, including a 10-year-old girl, Lonathemba Manana, who is still fighting for her life in hospital.
The Mchunus said Qondile invited their son to her wedding.
“Siyanda even borrowed money to travel to the wedding because he was getting persistent calls, asking him to come.
“Qondile owes us an explanation,” said Siyanda’s mum, Buhle Mchunu.
She said she found her son’s body at the Edendale Hospital mortuary on Sunday. “Siyanda was a well-behaved son who didn’t like to argue with people.”
Qondile said: “Siyanda had a quarrel with one of my guests. When it became clear that he was unruly, he was escorted out of the house.
“But then he returned and started stabbing everyone. It was as if he was possessed. He tore the ropes that were holding the tent and even stabbed Lonathemba.”
“Now his family blames me for the incident.”
Police spokesman Captain Musa Ntombela confirmed the incident.
He said they were investigating a case of murder and assault.
