Durban – Completing his fast could have made him the first African pastor to fast for thirty days without food nor water. But it never turned out so good for the eThekwini Christ Fellowship Church leader , Alfred Ndlovu who died of malnutrition following a dry fasting expected to last for 30 days.
Just as the story of Jesus during His 40-day fast, the 44-year-old pastor is reported to have left all possessions behind in search of a spiritual encounter with God.
His body was thus found in the wilderness by a stranger who alerted family and friends as well as the police. As sad as the story may sound, the late Alfred Ndlovu who left for the wilderness on June 17, leaves so many questions unanswered. First being whether or not the fasting was worth it in the first place.
Online Sources gathered that the pastor was alone in the wilderness and his body was found by a stranger who then called on his family, congragation and the police.
He was known by his family and community at large as a very spiritual person whose faith could move mountains and his death surprised everyone, even church members.
A close relative said: “He was a very spiritual man. Its unfortunate he had to die this way. After a month we got the sad news of his death. Pastor was a healthy and religious old man who did not even look his age.”
