SOMALEZA Mboso (6) kicked a ball through a neighbour’s window, starting a clash that way have ended his life.
Last Wednesday he went out to play with other boys and then disappeared. Two days later he was found dead with a swollen face and feet in a hole in Cosmo City, near Randburg in Gauteng.
His mother, Bongiwe Mboso (30), said the whole nightmare started last Monday when the boy accidentally kicked a ball into the neighbour’s yard, breaking a window. The neighbour came out and demanded to know who had done it.
“Other kids pointed out Somaleza, so the woman came to our house and demanded R420 for the window. At the time we did not have the money, but we promised to make a plan,” said Bongiwe.
“Before leaving, she said if we didn’t pay her, something bad would happen to Somaleza.”
On Wednesday Somaleza went out to play with the boys, but never returned.
“We organised a search with community members and were helped by patrollers.
“Later cops joined in using a helicopter, but Somaleza was nowhere to be found. On Thursday morning we did a house-to-house search, but still nothing came of it,” said Bongiwe.
Somaleza was found dead in an open manhole on Friday.
Bongiwe said she to confront the neighbour about his death and was told the woman had fled to Lesotho.
Honeydew police are investigating.
