HE scammed them of their money and prayed for them when they wanted it back!
Pastor Charles Ngwabi of Life Assemblies Ministries in Thokoza, Ekurhuleni allegedly puts up a board next to houses under construction, giving the impression of being a builder. He then distributes pamphlets offering houses which cost between R250 000 and R570 000. Yesterday, three of his victims opened a case of theft against the pastor at Joburg Central Police Station.
Simon Mapetla (43) from Roodepoort, west of Joburg said: “He told me he builds houses and I had to pay a R15 000 deposit. I paid him in 2014 and have been waiting since. When I went to see him, he insisted on reading the Bible and praying.”
Khumbulani Mazibulo from Vosloorus in Ekurhuleni said he nearly lost his family because of the pastor.
“My wife thought I had spent the money. Luckily, I had the original bank deposit slip as proof,” he said.
Daily Sun spoke to the pastor, who confirmed taking the money. He referred to the money as a commitment fee.
“Only God knows when they will get their houses. I prayed for them because I’m seeking God’s speedy intervention.”
Police spokesman Warrant Officer Xoli Mbele said cops are investigating a case of theft and are questioning the pastor about the money deposited into his account.
