AN UNRULY police officer who allegedly attempted to knock over his ex-girlfriend with a car on Tuesday afternoon may soon face the wrath of the law.
The 35-year-old man is constable at Mbazwana Police Station in Umhlabuyalingana, northern KZN.
The ex-girlfriend (37), a nurse, said she was on her way from work when the incident happened.
“I was driving past the clinic’s gate when I suddenly saw my ex-boyfriend’s Corsa Lite speeding towards me. He intentionally knocked my car in the front. If I had not slowed down, I would have died,” she said.
The woman said the cop quickly jumped out of his car and knocked on her window.
“He had what I believe was a gun and he threatened to kill me.
“I quickly sped off and went to the police station,” she said.
The nurse claims her ex-boyfriend has been terrorising her since they broke up four weeks ago.
Xolani Zikhali (52), a witness and chairman of the local community policing forum, said he intends to open a case of public indecency against the cop.
KZN police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane confirmed that cases of intimidation and reckless and negligent driving were opened.
“No arrest has been made at this stage,” he said.
