Rustenburg – A 44-year-old man, found guilty of raping his sister, has been sentenced to eight years behind bars, North West police said on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said the Bloemhof Magistrate’s Court imposed the sentence on Tuesday.
The man was convicted of raping his sister on June 20, 2013 in Boitumelong near Bloemhof.
North West Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane welcomed the sentence.
She said the police in the province would continue to work hard to ensure that those who transgress the law were dealt with effectively.
