SHE went straight from her wedding day to a hospital bed!
Now it seems her dreams of marital bliss will remain a fantasy!
Ever since her wedding day, life has been hell for Maria Mokua (47) from Maganagobuswa in Mpumalanga. She is convinced her illness has everything to do with her wedding in October.
“I waited almost all my life to marry the man of my dreams and live happily ever after with him. But as soon as I had walked down the aisle, I began to feel terrible stomach pains,” she said.
She said she had no choice but to bear the pain.
“I felt like I was dying. By the time it was all over, all I wanted was my bed.”
Maria said she hoped the pain would go away, but it didn’t. The following day, the pains grew worse and she had to be rushed to hospital.
But doctors could not find out what was causing the pain.
The couple said they went to other doctors for second, third and fourth opinions, but they all had the same answer – they could not find the cause of Maria’s pain.
Her youngest daughter Kholofelo Mokua (24) has even had to quit her job to look after her mum.
The mother of four believes jealous people cast a spell on her that was meant to kill her on her wedding day. Maria said: “I continue to live in pain and this is affecting my family and marriage. I went straight from the aisle to my bed of pain.”
Maria’s husband Victor Mokua (52) said he feels helpless because he cannot do anything to ease his wife’s pain.
“I gave her a dream wedding. It was meant to serve as a token of appreciation, as we have been together for 30 years. Now it looks as though the wedding was a curse,” he said.
Sangoma Koketso Mokgabudi said Maria must consult a strong traditional healer who will help reverse the effects of the spell.
“Whoever did this wanted her to die on her wedding day,” she said.
“She has survived this long because she has strong ancestors.”
