POLICE rounded up two gun-toting pupils from different schools last week.

It appears both pupils had been terrorising other kids with the deadly weapons.

However, when their bragging and threats became too bold, both were reported and bust at their respective schools.

In the one incident, a 19-year-old pupil from Ramotse, Hammanskraal, apparently took his dad’s unlicensed firearm to school and spent all day terrorising his peers with it. But his swagger died when concerned resident Maria Masombuka (34) saw the boy dressed in his school uniform with the gun weighing his waist down.

She immediately called the cops.

Temba police spokeswoman Lieutenant Sarah Lesabane said: “The suspect was arrested. He was found in possession of an unlicensed 9mm firearm with two magazines and six bullets. He will appear in the Moretele Magistrates Court soon.”

  • In a similar incident at Dinoto Technical Secondary School in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni, a gun-carrying pupil was bust on Thursday. Pupils apparently feared the armed pupil more than they did their teachers. Known as “The Boss”, the pupil allegedly even brought the firearm with him during exams. But the other kids reported him.

Lieutenant-Colonel Wilfred Kgasago said: “The pupil who is currently writing exams was arrested. He will be released into the custody of his mother until the investigations are completed.”
