REFUSING to give Durban stand-up comedian Ankel a hug is allegedly not a joke!
Aspiring model and student Andile Thenjwayo (22) allegedly learned this the hard way on Sunday evening. She claims Ankel, who will soon be appearing on SABC1 telenovela Uzalo, gave her a hot klap when she refused to hug him in central Durban!
She claims the comedian, whose real name is Sibusiso Shangase, was with his friends in a black VW convertible when she and two friends walked past.
“He asked me for a hug and when I refused he wanted my number. When I refused again he started insulting me. He then approached me on foot and slapped me across the face,” claimed Andile.
“He said he would show me how boys from KwaMashu treat b****** like me. He then kicked me and told me I was not on his level.” She said his friends didn’t even try to stop him or help her.
“When I reached for my phone he threatened to smash it. I phoned 10111 and when they finally answered he realised the situation was serious and sped off,” said Andile.
She said what hurt her most was that Ankel turned the whole thing into a joke on social media.
“He has posted videos of him bragging how I’m jealous of his achievements. How can I be jealous if I don’t even know him personally?” Andile asked. When approached for comment the comedian told the SunTeam he couldn’t say anything because cops were dealing with the matter.
KZN police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Shooz Magudulela said: “The complainant alleged she was assaulted by a known suspect. A case of common assault was opened but no arrest has yet been made.”
